April 2004 HAT Meeting Minutes

by Di Hopkins

The monthly HAT meeting on April 1st was held at the Grayson County Courthouse in Sherman, and was called to order at approximately 7pm.

Following time for refreshments (sandwiches courtesy of John Ryan and drinks courtesy of Greg Van Nurden), all old and new business was postponed to provide time for a special presentation.

Special Presentation

A presentation was given regarding the upcoming Red River Stampede PRCA Rodeo.  The intent was to show how HAT could become involved by canvassing local businesses to purchase advertising for this event.  In return, HAT would receive a percentage of the advertising fees to use in funding its activities and programs such as the Scholarship Fund.  The more ads HAT could sell, the higher the percentage would be.

The various pros and cons of the idea were discussed, and a consensus was reached that HAT would agree to participate; however, given that this year’s rodeo was coming up within a few weeks and that much of the advertising was already sold, the plan would be for the group to work on sales for next year’s event.

The meeting was adjourned at 9pm and newsletters distributed.
