Committee Reports:

·        Scholarship – we announced the recipient of our 2006 Youth Scholarship during the annual Youth Clinic on May 6th at Loy Lake Arena in Denison.  Congratulations to Katlyn Davis. Sandra Shiver reported that we had good coverage in the local paper.  A new committee will be forming for the 2007 scholarship and new members are welcome to join.

·        Show Committee – Outstanding issues to be resolved before the show include permission to use the posse arena by the Sheriff’s Posse Committee and a release form printed for anyone using the arena to sign. Our insurance charges $10 extra to cover this arena.

June 17th Show

o       Richard Noyes will be the announcer again for this show – he will need someone to give him a break once in a while from announcing.

o       Volunteers for the sign up table should be at the arena by 7:45 a.m.  Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the show starts at 9.

o       Paul Johnson will handle checking Coggins papers at the gate

o       A volunteer is still needed for Ring Steward

o       Ruby will be giving out ribbons to contestants

o       The High Point awards (bridle bags) are currently being embroidered

o       Sheila Johnson will make a basket to be raffled off during the show

o       A committee was set to drag the arena Friday night before the show.

Old Business:

·        Silent Auction – Jenni Dougan will write thank you cards to Jackie Whitfield for donated horse equipment and tack. These items will be used in a silent auction during our shows.

·        Youth Clinic – Gerry Snipes reported that there were 10 riders at the Youth Clinic and all received their certificates.  She suggested having more instructors next time for more one on one instruction.  All of the parents were very appreciative to Gerry for putting on the clinic for the children.

·        Trail Ride Report – The trail ride went very well. Lake Ray Roberts was a good place to have our first trail ride. Some suggestions for the next ride include: more water and ice available at the ½ way point and the ride will start at the posted time. All riders seemed to have a great time and we plan to do it again!

·        Education Program – Kathy Bagnell and Gerry Snipes agreed to meet with the new County Extension Agent to invite him to our next monthly meeting.

New Business:

·        Executive Committee – scheduled a tentative meeting on June 20th at 7 p.m. Jenni Dougan will check to see if the meeting room is available.

·        HAT Helping Horses and Horse Owners – Club members voted to donate $150 toward the Adame’s fence and barn rebuilding which were destroyed by the tornado.

·        Brag Bucket – Debby Van Nurden suggested we have a brag bucket which the $ would go toward an emergency fund. Any person could donate a dollar and “brag” about something they or their horse did. This $ would go toward such things as Hurricane Katrina or the tornado rebuilding which HAT has donated toward.

The meeting was adjourned and HAT Chats were passed out for distribution.
