Kevin Lutkenhaus
put on a very informative program on “Fire Evacuation Planning, Emergency
Preparedness, and Basic Fire Safety”. We
all learned quite a bit and he gave us plenty of information to help us prepare
in case of a fire. How many of you have
2 evacuation plans for your barn, one with you there and one in case you are
not home?
Club Business
We had quite a few new faces
at our August meeting. Welcome to Stacy
Branam, Polly Hale, Richard Fehr, Spook Wiggins, and
Donna Helvey.
This meeting had a few guest
speakers. First was introduction of
Jackie Risner, the new Grayson County Extension
Agent. Jackie explained that he has been
in this line of work for quite a few years in different areas. He asked for suggestions of what kinds of
educational programs would be good in this area. The members of HAT had quite a number of
suggestions to get him started.
We met Stacy Branam from
Digital Express, the professional photographers who will be working at our
September 30th show at
We also met Donna Helvey and Spook Wiggins from Aces and Eights Performance
Horses. Mr. Wiggins has been training
people and horses for many years and his goal is to involve the entire
community in the knowledge and understanding of horses. They are interested in working with us to
organize an event along the lines of the Adult Riding Clinic we have been
discussing for some time. It was agreed
this is a topic to be covered in an Executive meeting.
Due to time constraints from
the many guest speakers, the business portion of the meeting was cut very
short. The minutes from the previous
meeting were approved as written in the HAT Chat. The treasurer’s report was approved as
presented by Jenni Dougan.
