Meeting Minutes

The meeting on February 1st was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by President Sandra Shiver. Guests and members introduced themselves to the group. We welcomed Ralph Riley and David Mitchell to their first HAT meeting.

Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as read by Robin Choteau. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented by treasurer Jenni Dougan.
Executive Committee
Report
A summary of the 2006 financials were presented and a projection for 2007 entered including increasing our insurance, advertising in 4-H Saddlebound program, and making a contribution to the Cowboy Church in memory of the late Judy Owens, one of the founders of HAT.
Old Business:

Gift certificates were given to our
· Christmas Potluck – favorite recipes from the potluck will appear in upcoming HAT Chats
· Mare and Foal Clinic – a well attended clinic with 61 participants and a profit of $339.
· Adult Riding Day – we are in the process of looking for a location to hold a members-only riding day once each month. Mike Bernier will be attending the TQHA meeting this month and discuss the possibility of using their arena.
· Scholarship Update – 3 applications received already
· HAT Chat Services Directory and Advertising – Roger has been in contact with most of the advertisers and has helped Mike clean up the listings in the newsletter. Jenni has also been sending out invoices to the remaining advertisers.
· Stallion Auction – one breeding sold so far
· Membership Committee – 57 members to date. A current roster was distributed, post card reminders were discussed and approved to do again, and the membership packet was reviewed and decided that a packet should be given out to each new member. New member Ralph Riley offered to print our brochure in color.
· By-Laws Review Committee – plans to set a date to meet
New Business:
· Adult Clinic – A series of 6 clinics with Mick Clark starting March 24th. Sheila and Sandra will be coordinating. A limit of 20 participants can enter. More details to follow.
· 2007 Shows – It was decided to keep the date of October 20th for the Futurity and search for location other than the Loy Lake Arena. Mike Bernier will be meeting with the TQHA later in the month and discuss the possibility of using their arena for the show.

o Ribbon Order – Ribbons will be printed with Horseman’s Association of Texoma on them and there is a discount for ordering early.
o Show Point System – There will be a new system of awarding points in each class which is more favorable for HAT’s smaller class sizes

The meeting was adjourned and HAT Chats were passed out for distribution to the surrounding communities.
