March 2007 Meeting
Minutes

The
meeting on March 1st was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by President
Sandra Shiver. Guests and members introduced themselves to the group. We
welcomed Steven Langford to his first HAT meeting.
Minutes from the previous
meeting were approved as read by Donna Franus. The treasurer’s report was
approved as presented by treasurer, Jenni Dougan.
Program:
“From a Judge’s Point of
View”
Judges
Joanne Crockett and Leonard Roy joined us for a lively discussion on what the
judge is looking for when he/she is out in the show ring..
They spoke about the integrity in judging and both judges answered questions
from our group.
Scholarship report –
There
has been one more application received and the deadline for applications is
April 15th. The date for the
selection committee meeting will be set soon. It was decided to do press
releases instead of post card reminders.
Old Business:

Adult Clinic with
Mick
1st session March 24th
at the Grayson County Courthouse.
The clinic is currently full, but auditors are still being accepted.

Report on TQHA
meeting
Mike Bernier explained all of the different options we
have with the TQHA arena for using it to hold our Futurity in October. It was
decided that Mike will find out at their next meeting what fees we would be
charged if we ask TQHA to prepare the arena and to provide for concessions
during the show.

Adult Riding Day
– Gerry Snipes
Mike
also obtained approval from TQHA to use their arena for monthly riding days, as
long as the dates we select do not conflict with their schedule. It was decided
to hold these on the 3rd Thursday of each month beginning in May,
pending approval by TQHA.
New Business:
·
Reining Clinic
with J.P. Forget – Tentatively set for April 1, with a limit of 10 riders and
HAT membership required. Contact Kathy Bagnell for more info.
The
meeting was adjourned and HAT Chats
were passed out for distribution to the surrounding communities.
