The meeting on March 1st was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by President Sandra Shiver. Guests and members introduced themselves to the group. We welcomed Steven Langford to his first HAT meeting.

Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as read by Donna Franus. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented by treasurer, Jenni Dougan.

Program:

“From a Judge’s Point of View”

Judges Joanne Crockett and Leonard Roy joined us for a lively discussion on what the judge is looking for when he/she is out in the show ring.. They spoke about the integrity in judging and both judges answered questions from our group.

Scholarship report –

There has been one more application received and the deadline for applications is April 15th.  The date for the selection committee meeting will be set soon. It was decided to do press releases instead of post card reminders.

Old Business:

·         Adult Clinic with Mick Clark

1st session March 24th at the Grayson County Courthouse. The clinic is currently full, but auditors are still being accepted.

·         Report on TQHA meeting

Mike Bernier explained all of the different options we have with the TQHA arena for using it to hold our Futurity in October. It was decided that Mike will find out at their next meeting what fees we would be charged if we ask TQHA to prepare the arena and to provide for concessions during the show.

·         Adult Riding Day – Gerry Snipes

Mike also obtained approval from TQHA to use their arena for monthly riding days, as long as the dates we select do not conflict with their schedule. It was decided to hold these on the 3rd Thursday of each month beginning in May, pending approval by TQHA.

New Business:

·         Reining Clinic with J.P. Forget – Tentatively set for April 1, with a limit of 10 riders and HAT membership required. Contact Kathy Bagnell for more info.

The meeting was adjourned and HAT Chats were passed out for distribution to the surrounding communities.
