April 2007 Meeting Minutes

President Sandra Shiver called the meeting on April 5th to order at 7:05 p.m. Guests and members introduced themselves to the group.

 

Program:

 

Holly Robinson of Grace Lake Ministries Therapeutic Horsemanship put on a wonderful PowerPoint presentation explaining what her riding center does. Grace Lake is a God-centered therapeutic riding program for anyone in need of hope and healing.

 

Club Business:

 

Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as read by Donna Franus. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented by treasurer Jenni Dougan.

 

Scholarship CommiteeSandra Shiver stated that the committee is still receiving applications. Robin Chouteau has agreed to serve on the scholarship committee review board.

 

Old Business:

·         Reining Introductory clinic Wrap-up - Sandra Shiver covered for Kathy Bagnell. The reining clinic with J.P. Forget was well attended with 10 riders and 6 auditors. Mr. Forget helped identify problems with riders and their horses and continued to work on correcting them.

·         Adult Horsemanship Clinic with Mick Clark - 1st session was March 24th at the courthouse, and it was filmed by Channel 12! The dates set for the next sessions are April 14th, April 28th May 5th May 19th and there will be a make-up day for March 31 which was rained out. The clinic is currently full, but is still accepting auditors. We have the ability to use Teddy Johnson’s Longview Ranch indoor arena if the weather is bad and his arena is available.

·         Family Riding/Schooling Days with Gerry Snipes - Has been set for 6pm until dark on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the TQHA arena in Denison. The first day will be May 17th.

·         Spring Show - Robin Chouteau has agreed to fill in as show manager with help from HAT members. During the meeting we had a discussion of last minute details for the show.

·         Mother’s Day Trail Ride/picnic lunch - The trail ride is scheduled for 10a.m. May 12th at Loy Lake picnic area.

·         Youth Clinic - Clinician Gerry Snipes – Gerry will need helpers for the day and a coordinator to help out.

·         Fall Futurity – October 20th TQHA Arena - TQHA will take care of the arena preparation and concession for the day. Mike will see if a rain date of October 27th is available if needed.

 

New Business:

·         The HAT membership accepted a HAT Membership and Distribution List Privacy Policy. It reads

“In order to better manage our ability to share timely information regarding our activities with our members, other horse clubs and the media, and to further respect the privacy of our members, all HAT memberships lists, mail/phone contact lists, and e-mail distribution lists are considered the property of HAT and will not be sold to, or shared with, any outside associations or individuals.”

·         Sandra Shiver also extended her thanks to many individuals for all their help and support of the HAT club.

 

The meeting was adjourned and HAT Chats were handed out for distribution to the surrounding communities.
