September 2007 Meeting Minutes

President Sandra Shiver called the September 6th meeting order at 7:10 p.m. Guests and members introduced themselves to the group.

 

Announcements:

·         J.P Forget clinic – September 15 and 16th

·         On the morning of August 28th, a fire destroyed Roger and Jenni Dougan’s home in Dorchester, TX. An account is being set up at the American Bank of Texas for anyone wishing to make a donation.

·         Classical Dressage Clinic with Dr. Thomas Ritter will be held Sept 21-23rd

 

Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as presented by Donna Franus.

 

Treasurers Report – was approved as presented by Jenni Dougan. Jenni has asked to step down as the treasurer of HAT due to their circumstances. A replacement CD of Quicken (accounting software) will be ordered for $15.

 

Scholarship Report – Sandra Shiver is currently working on new applications for next year.

 

Old Business:

·         September 8th show – Co-managers will be Robin Chouteau and Sandra Shiver. Ribbons are ready for the show. A new guest, Ronny, offered to drag the Loy Lake arena for us. Texoma Cattlewomen’s Association will run the concession.

·         Futurity - October 20th

o        The judge will be Joanne Crockett

o        We are currently looking for a show manager

o        The same format will be followed  as last year’s Futurity regarding money and trophies.

o        Volunteers are needed to help with the show and also some suggestions for a high point award.

o        A submission for the Lone Star Horse Report must be submitted by Sept. 14th

·         Horse Show Manual – A new manual will need to be re-created, as the original was lost in the Dougan’s fire.

·         The September Family Riding/Schooling Day with Gerry Snipes has been moved to the 30th. More details to follow.

·         Trail Ride – October 7th at Loy Lake with Mike Scully as trail boss.

·         Freeze Branding Clinic – Debby Van Nurden will gather more info and submit it for the next newsletter.

 

New Business:

·         Mike Bernier has announced he will be stepping down as Show Secretary after the October show. He would like to spend time showing his own horses and taking pictures.

·         Meeting Format – HAT will continue to present programs at their monthly meetings.

·         Loy Lake Update – HAT has been informed the charge for renting Loy Lake arena for future events will be $350.

·         Vote on Proposed By-Laws – The proposed By-laws were unanimously accepted.

 

The meeting was adjourned. HAT Chats were not available at the meeting; they can be picked up at the September 8th show.
